Ta Ke Ti NaTa Ke Ti Na is a musical group process that uses rhythm, sound and movement. The Ta Ke Ti Na process creates an opportunity for participants to experience a new way of learning based on their own timing and readiness, using the body as their instrument. It works equally well for professional musicians and beginners, allowing all people to access their innate ability to express and embody rhythm.

This way of teaching was created by Austrian percussionist Reinhard Flatischler in the 1970’s and continues to be developed by him and his wife Cornelia. They have been teaching and leading Ta Ke Ti Na in Europe for over 20 years. (See www.taketina.com for more information on Reinhard and Cornelia’s work.) For a detailed description of the process and benefits of Ta Ke Ti Na, see www.villageheartbeat.com

There have been three successive 3-year Ta Ke Ti Na teacher trainings in the US over the past 11 years. Shasta and her husband Brian Hoover completed the teacher training in October 2008, and are the first certified Ta Ke Ti Na teachers in Canada. They are currently offering workshops on the west coast and are open to traveling anywhere across Canada to offer this exciting new work. If you are interested in hosting a Ta Ke Ti Na workshop in your area, please contact Shasta. See the Schedule of Events page for information on current workshops.
